As the grandchild of a Tibetan sculptor, Sonam took an early interest in the techniques of artistic form and material expression. Constantly on the move from an early age, she was drawn to the eclectic influences of the West in East Asian architecture which led to further studies in the US.
While pursuing a Bachelors of Architecture at Judson University in Illinois, she took part in a research case study on Sustainable Design and its influence on not just building but design in a larger context.
She moved to Austin in 2015 and has since then contributed to several projects at Wang Architects, including the Offices of Grafton Reid, the Smith Performance Center, the Asian American Cultural Center in Austin, the Watkins Building and numerous other residential projects. She was the recipient of the Dean’s Award as a student.
