Strategic Grafting in Cabrini Green
Collaboration with Judson University. Chicago, IL
Buildings have an inherent DNA. They are born to be something specific. Most often, when we try to re-purpose or change the program of these facilities, we find resistance from the building that requires an enormous financial investment to overcome.
This project in Cabrini Green was an exercise on how to alter a building's DNA with the lowest possible monetary investment, but with design acumen and innovation.
Gary Wang was an Associate Professor of Architecture at Judson University. This was a collaboration between Mr. Wang as the Architect of Record and his architectural studio, with David Baird as a co-studio instructor.
